Integrating the Arts for Teaching and Learning

Course #: EDUC_715K

Semester Credits: 3
Cost: $420.00

This course is about making your existing curriculum in Social Studies, Language Arts, Math, Science or Art much more interesting, fun, memorable, and enriching for both you and your students. You will learn how to integrate the Arts: visual arts, drama, literature, dance, and music into your existing lessons, even if you do not have a background in the Arts. Integrating the arts has proven successful for teaching and learning in both multicultural and multilingual settings.

This course presents basic information on how to use art materials that are easily accessible to create sounds, music, drawings, math problems, poems, short stories, journals, and other artistic adventures that reinforce existing curriculum. It recommends specific materials you can use: poster size images or slides of American Art, American and English Poetry, plus hundreds of lesson plans and lesson plan ideas. It provides hundreds of references for future growth as you follow the path of integrating the arts into your classroom.
