Drawing to Enhance Learning

Course #: EDUC_714K

Semester Credits: 3
Cost: $420.00

This course is designed to teach you the skill of drawing so you can enjoy drawing successfully, or you can teach your students to draw.  Drawing can also be used in the classroom in other subject areas to promote critical observational skills and reinforce and enhance learning. Contrary to popular belief, drawing is a skill and not a talent.  Well-known “Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain” techniques taught by Professor Betty Edwards guide you step-by-step, beginning with very easy exercises, to accomplishing portraits and drawings of room interiors. This course focuses on the five skills necessary to draw successfully. It will show you how to draw what is in front of you by helping you to get into the “right” state of mind so you can perceive clearly and without preconceived notions. The five basic skills are supplemented with various “tricks” and techniques to help you and your students see and draw like an artist.
