Course Description
Developing a Physical Education Curriculum includes a review of best practices and approaches to planning and implementing an inclusive physical education curriculum. Educators will learn new methods, games, and techniques while utilizing current research to accommodate students of all abilities. This course is designed to be highly practical and is created to address the unique needs of physical education teachers.
Goals
- Understand the meaning of curriculum, the dynamics of change, the role of societal influences, and the relationship the physical education curriculum has with the overall school curriculum and state and national standards.
- Understand the merits and limitations of the curriculum models commonly used in physical education in terms of students’ needs and level of interaction for students with and without disabilities
- Understand the concept of planning down and implementing up in creating functional, objective-based physical education curricula in which students are expected to learn specific skills and teachers are accountable for student achievement.
- Understand your role as a curriculum designer in planning and implementing lessons and activities utilizing several different strategies

How to Register
Developing a Physical Education Curriculum is completed in either an online or via emailed PDF format. It is open for anyone to register at any time during an open semester. After completion, students receive graduate, non-degree semester credit on official transcripts from the University of La Verne.
Registration is fast and simple and can be done online or over the phone. Courses are offered on a rolling basis during three standard semesters, and you can begin whenever you are ready! Students may enroll in up to 15 credits each semester. The registration dates are:
