This course explores important aspects of family and family relations and discusses how changes in society are changing the nature of family life and communications within and outside the family. It identifies current concerns and problems within the family and presents alternative views of family processes. While much of the information in this course is practical and applications-oriented, the course also includes scientific discoveries and research-oriented material. It examines the beginnings of relationships, establishing relationships, marriage, parent-child, sibling, and intergenerational relationships. The course also looks at family strengths and emerging trends within families. And, finally, the future of the family is discussed.
