Building Classroom Discipline provides educators with resources and guidance to identify and evaluate their unique leadership style in order to support students through consistent expectations and positive discipline. Teachers will learn how to bolster student engagement, facilitate a cooperative and respectful learning environment, create and maintain routines, and much more.

Course Description

Discipline problems can be a significant source of frustration and burnout for teachers and students alike. This course provides teachers with positive, effective strategies and practical solutions to help them address discipline problems.  Teachers will learn how to eliminate power struggles, restore order to their classrooms, form mutually respectful teacher-student relationships, use natural and logical consequences, and create a cooperative, positive learning environment.

How to Register

Building Classroom Discipline is offered online or via an emailed PDF format. It is open for anyone to register at any time during a semester. After completion, students earn graduate, non-degree semester credit from Professional Development Courses at the University of La Verne, as reflected on their official transcript.

Registration is fast and straightforward and can be done online or over the phone. Courses are offered on a rolling basis during three standard semesters, so you can begin whenever you feel ready! Students may register for a maximum of 15 credits each semester. The registration dates are: 

  • Fall: September 1 - January 31
  • Spring: February 1 - May 31
  • Summer: June 1 - August 31
