In this course, educators will delve into specific strategies for building and fostering positive relationships with neurodivergent students. This course explores the range and levels of communication that occur between teachers and students, explaining how to turn those moments into opportunities for creating a neurodiversity-affirming classroom environment. Learning from detailed examples, samples of teacher-student conversation, and a wide range of approaches, gaining insight into the transformative power of positive relationships with neurodivergent students. Participants will design and work on two flexible projects applicable to their current teaching positions and circumstances. By the end of this course, the educator will be equipped with knowledge, strategies, and newly designed tools to help them build genuine and meaningful relationships with their neurodivergent students while creating a more inclusive and supportive learning environment for all.
